In order to improve patient care, the current healthcare system makes extensive use of various forms of technology, which has been associated with better overall patient outcomes. The main duty I have as a nurse is to provide care for patients, which includes enticing patient involvement in that care. Currently, patient engagement is the cornerstone of high-quality care, and the spread of this practice is one of the stated goals of healthcare organizations. Better health outcomes and higher levels of patient satisfaction are directly correlated with patients taking an active role in their own care. Thanks to technological advancements like e-mail, text messaging, and online patient portals, patients can take an active role in their own care more conveniently.
