Summarize the study

The study that I chose is a single group quasi-experimental design that focused on answering the question that does nurses retain education and knowledge about evidence-based practices when they are assessed for the retention before receiving education, immediately after education, and then at the one-year mark (Cosme, Milner & Wonder, 2018). The sample population was a cohort of 62 students enrolled in their junior year of nursing school in the northeast at a single college. The data sources used were the Evidence-Based Practice Knowledge Assessment in Nursing (EKAN).  Only 57 students participated int he full study.  The inferential statistics were that the students would retain the education and knowledge at the one-year mark allowing for the school to set a benchmark.  The actual findings did prove that the majority of students had growth and knowledge at the one-year reassessment mark (Cosme et al., 2018).   The dependent variable was the compliance with education and assessment, and the independent variable was exposure to the additional education related to evidence-based practice knowledge meeting the definition as listed in the textbook (Gray, Grove, & Sutherland, 2017).

I have been very active most of my life. However, as years passed, it was more challenging to do active things because of the dictates of life. This happened many times. In May, I hurt myself hiking in sandy mountains and was diagnosed with a broken back needing spinal fusion. I was instructed to lose weight safely but quickly for surgical success and longevity. Many of my friends were using semaglutide, and in desperation, I started it. I started walking daily (the only exercise I was allowed to do). I increased my protein, deleted my sugar intake (unless it was natural), and consumed food until I was not hungry instead of feeling full. These were all changes that had been attempted before, but now with success. I lost 40 lbs in four months in preparation for the spinal fusion and then an additional 10 lbs in an additional four months post-surgery as my exercise routine was being rebuilt. The semaglutide lowered my cravings, allowing me more power to make better, consistent choices, resulting in positive effects. My experience aligns with the effectiveness of semaglutide in reducing body weight, as your research has highlighted.

I have known diverse individuals who have admitted using semaglutide as a weight loss program. Many have yet to succeed. Those who have admitted no success also stated they did not make lifestyle changes. Kebbe et al. Currently, data supports possible adverse events of hypoglycemia, gastrointestinal side effects, pancreatic safety, thyroid cancer, gallbladder events, cardiovascular aspects, acute kidney injury, and diabetic retinopathy (Smits & Raalte, 2021).
