Humanistic-existential psychotherapy is a treatment intervention utilized for different mental health problems. The therapy considers human beings as a whole being rather than symptoms associated with their mental health problems. Humanistic existential therapy aims at increasing the individual’s capacity for choice and self-awareness. The therapist in this treatment approach helps patients to overcome disabling assumptions and beliefs about themselves. Humanistic-existential therapy aims at promoting growth and acceptance in a patient. However, cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on behavioral and cognitive change (Hoffman, 2021).
