The most important thing here is to understand the required format—whether it is APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.
After understanding the requirements of the paper, the next phase is to gather relevant materials. The first place to start the research process is the weekly resources. Go through the resources provided in the instructions to determine which ones fit the assignment. Another important factor to consider at this point is how to do citations. In-text citations are fundamental as they support the arguments and points you make in the paper. At this point, the resources gathered at the beginning will come in handy. Integrating the ideas of the authors with your own will ensure that you produce a comprehensive paper. Also, follow the given citation format. In most cases, APA 7 is the preferred format for nursing assignments.

Wk 6 Reflection
When completing the CITI modules, I learned that The Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative, commonly known as CITI, delivers online courses that have been peer-reviewed. These courses span a range of subjects including ethics, responsible conduct of research, regulatory oversight, research administration, web-based educational courses in research, among others. The program has developed training modules to guide researchers in designing and conducting ethical research. I found it astonishing to discover that numerous universities, government bodies at various levels, and businesses involved in human research mandate their employees to undergo CITI training. This ensures that research is conducted ethically and responsibly. (Kue et al., 2018). The CITI modules align with the ANA Code of Ethics, provision 8, emphasizes that nurses should work hand in hand with other healthcare experts and the general public. Their collaboration aims to uphold human rights, champion health diplomacy, and bridge the gap in health inequalities. Thus, both seek to protect the rights of human subjects. I will apply this week’s teaching in my nursing practice to protect persons who will participate in my research activities and also apply the knowledge to ensure other researchers protect patients’ rights during research.

I enjoyed read your discussion post this week. I also researched the same Tuskegee Syphilis Study. I was appalled to read that such atrocities were done to human test subjects. Horrific events like this one are the reasons that we have to act as our patient’s advocates when getting consents or even explaining different studies. After the U.S Public Health Service’s (USPHS) Untreated Syphilis Study at Tuskegee, the government changed its research practices. In 1974, the National Research Act was signed into law, creating the National Commission for the Protection of Human Subjects of Biomedical and Behavioral Research (CDC, 2017). To put this into a positive light, it has changed the world of research for the best. As healthcare providers we must always do what is best for our patients. Thank you for sharing this post, look forward to reading more from you.
