Nursing Care Issue and Outcome

30 points

Nursing Care Issue:

A significant nursing care issue is the lack of training in nursing home staff

Outcome:

The lack of sufficient training in home nursing staff has led to increased cases of emergency hospitalization.  Sufficient nurse training has often lacked in home nursing scenarios and this has led to negative outcomes as well as the deterioration of patient health.

Details of the Issue

45 points

A lack of sufficient training has led to an increased number of hospitalizalized patients from nursing homes.  Hospitalization of such a patient would destabilize them, as the quality of care given to the patient would decrease during the process of transferring the patient.  There are a number of potential dangers that can occur to the patient and lack of sufficient training can have detrimental outcomes.  Patient conditions such as pressure sores may deteriorate the health of nursing home patients rapidly and lack of proper nurse training may lead to complications related to the same.
Reason issue Selected The main reason why the issue was selected is that it is necessary to ensure that skilled nursing is given to patients to avoid unnecessary hospitalizations.  The implementation of an education and training program would lower occurrences of hospitalization of nursing home patients.  Furthermore, it is necessary for nurses to understand early detection of any patient complications as well as the steps that can be taken in such an occurrence.  Nurses should therefore be educated on how to respond to various patient circumstances as well as how to recognize various situations.
